Pasal SMS: Building a Digital Business Operating System for Small Businesses

Client problem #
Most small businesses still run on notebooks and spreadsheets: sales written down by hand, customer credit tracked from memory, inventory updated inconsistently, and daily profit worked out manually. That's workable at a small scale but breaks down as a business grows — balances get forgotten, spreadsheets drift out of sync, and owners have no real-time view of how the business is actually doing. The enterprise software that could fix this is usually too expensive, too complicated, and built for a scale of operation these shops don't have. Pasal SMS needed to be the opposite: simple, affordable, and built for a non-technical shop owner, not an accountant.
Vision & objectives #
The goal was a business owner could record daily sales, manage products, track customers, monitor outstanding payments, and understand performance — all from one platform, on a phone if needed. That meant replacing manual daybooks, cutting down record-keeping errors, giving real-time insight into the business, simplifying inventory, tightening customer relationship tracking, and building all of it as a scalable SaaS product rather than a one-off tool for a single shop.
Process #
1. Digital daybook system #
The core of Pasal SMS replaces the traditional handwritten daybook: sales, purchases, expenses, payments, customer balances, and daily activity are all recorded digitally, making every transaction searchable and organized instead of buried in a notebook.
2. Sales management built for speed #
Recording a sale needed to feel at least as fast as writing it down — create a sale, add products, track quantities, get totals calculated automatically, and review past transactions and revenue trends without extra steps getting in the way.
3. Customer credit and relationship management #
Many small businesses run on informal credit, which is exactly where manual tracking breaks down (forgotten balances, missing payment records, no real purchase history). Pasal SMS gives each customer a profile with purchase history, outstanding balance, payment records, and a transaction timeline, so a shop owner has the full relationship in one place instead of in their head.
4. Inventory management #
Product catalog, stock levels, categories, pricing, and availability are tracked centrally, with the architecture left open for low-stock notifications, supplier management, purchase automation, and barcode scanning as the product grows.
5. Business analytics dashboard #
Daily sales, monthly revenue, expenses, profit trends, best-selling products, and customer activity are surfaced on a dashboard — turning records that used to sit in a notebook into something an owner can actually act on instead of estimating from memory.
6. Designed for non-technical users #
The product deliberately avoids the complexity of accounting software: simple navigation, minimal steps, clear language, a mobile-friendly interface, and easy data entry, built as an intuitive business assistant rather than a system that requires training to use.
7. Multi-tenant SaaS architecture #
The platform is built so multiple businesses share the same system while their data stays fully isolated — business accounts, user management, permission systems, separate business data, and subscription management, so the product can scale from a single shop's tool into a real SaaS platform.
8. Authentication and data isolation #
Secure authentication, protected API endpoints, user authorization, input validation, and secure database operations ensure each business can only ever see and act on its own data.

Combining modern web architecture with practical, notebook-replacing workflows produced a platform aimed at real-world value rather than feature count, with room to grow into a complete business management ecosystem.
